Those top two photos with my hair blown out? 🙄 Hm, I actually love them. Shocker! 😲 I know, I know. I'm not supposed to love them according to #curlycommunity standards, but I do. I was actually very sick in the first top-left pic & I was home chilling in the top-right pic. Yes, irrelevant info, I know. Anyway, both top photos were taken in or around 2013-ish. Although I used the curling iron at times, I didn't use it to flat iron all of my hair all of the time. I have, for the most part, preferred some type of volume or curl. If I blew my hair out, I would obtain volume by sparingly using the curling iron (not too hot) & by twirling hair in parts with my finger & pinning it with bobby pins (and I still do it today whenever I blow dry my hair!). As I mentioned in a previous post, most of my curl damage did not come directly from excessive use of heat, but rather it came from not using the right products, from hairstyles that tormented my hair, not caring for my hair, & from using cheap hair dyes. My hair was professionally done in the top photos (color & cut). However, I then dabbled in dying it myself & I regretted it as you can see in the #beforeandafter post that I shared a few days ago. Nowadays, I leave that to the pros. I like my hair either way (blown out, curly, long, or short) because ultimately my hair doesn't define me. I define it.
