The trick to aging gracefully is to enjoy it.
I stumbled across the photo on the left this morning and I was mortified because I don’t remember my hair looking that jacked up. That photo was taken on back in 2007 on my 33rd birthday, almost ten years ago. At the time of this photo, my youngest son was 7 months old. During my pregnancy with him my hair was gorgeous, as is the case with most pregnant women. Then a few months after I gave birth, it all went to the crapper as you can see here. My hair began to fall out and it was just not cooperating at all. Even through that difficult time, I never gave up. I was patient and I remember that I did my best to care for my hair even on days when I wanted to shave it all off. When my hormones stabilized, I saw a positive difference. My hair was back with a vengeance (need to find that pic when my hair got all “Beyonce”, lol). Granted, I had to get a haircut in the process but that was no big deal. Haircuts and trims are a part of the #HealthyHairJourney. Keep in mind that at that time, I did not have the knowledge of how to truly care for my hair or the interest as I do today (and I’m still a work in progress). I just used my common sense. I cannot emphasize enough the amount of patience that is needed when it comes to hair. Shortcuts will not get you the healthy hair that you want and not paying attention to your own hair will cost you headaches and tons of money. Be patient, use common sense, pay attention, & do your best. Most importantly, don’t take it all so seriously. In the end it’s just hair and we are all more than our hair. Have fun with it.
